Ambassador of the Week: Judith Haynes Levins

Meet Judith Haynes Levins, this week’s top American Watercolor Weekly Ambassador!

“Storm Clouds on the Lane”

“To paint all I can see, for that is my destiny,” says Judith Haynes Levins. Judy knew from the beginning that art was her passion and her place in the world.

Life has taken Judy to the Northern and the Southern parts of the United States, all the while pursuing her passion of art. Judy draws inspiration from the nature and wildlife that surround her while she paints her world in watercolor. Her paintings are filled with bold color and expressive fluid strokes that capture her subject, whether it’s a vibrant bouquet of flowers picked fresh from her garden or a glowing sunrise captured en plein air.
Judy currently has put down roots in Cazenovia NY. A charming lake community tucked into the pastoral landscape of Upstate New York. She is the current President of the Cazenovia Watercolor Society, (CWS) and keeps her brushes busy by joining the Adirondack Plein Air group, Mountain Air Painters, on weekly painting adventures. Judy has gained Signature status with the Central New York Watercolor Society (CNYWS), as well as filling a chair on the 2017/18 Board of Directors. She has shown her energetic watercolor paintings in Central New York with three solo exhibits and served as both artist participant and Exhibit Chair with the Cazenovia Watercolor Society and the Central New York Watercolor Society.

“Moose River”

Judy sees painting as a two-way conversation. “There’s so much beauty in our world, and I hope to help people open their senses to it. To notice the light dancing on the petals of a flower, or gaze on a field of wildflowers shining brilliantly against a bold blue sky. If I can reach somebody that way, to ‘paint my world’ and have them pause for a moment, to see the beauty that surrounds us, then I have shared a moment with them and that’s a really good thing.”
