Best of the South

From a field of approximately 200 entries, juror Ken Call selected 108 watercolor paintings for the 45th Annual Juried Exhibition of the Southern Watercolor Society. The artists, representing 19 southern states, and their work present a compelling story of life — from portraits, street scenes, and landscapes to abstracts. The exhibition will be on display through May 13, 2022, at ArtCenter Manatee in Bradenton, Florida.

Can’t see the show in person? No problem. Here are a few highlights for you to enjoy.

Best of Show – Soon Warren “Hide and Seek II”
Platinum – Chris Krupinski “Nataliya’s Shawl”
Sapphire – Judy Nunno “Basket Weaver”
Gold – Dean Mitchell “St. Augustine Light”
Silver – Pat Holscher “Beach Groupies”

Founded in 1975, the Southern Watercolor Society was formed to elevate the stature of watercolor and to educate the public about the significance of watercolor as an important creative and permanent painting medium.
