Ambassador of the Week: Ev Hales

Meet Ev Halesthis week’s top American Watercolor Weekly Ambassador!

“Fabulous Fountain” I love the fountains in Europe and I enjoyed painting this one found on one of my many painting tours taken in various parts of the world. I love how the color moves in the watercolor medium.

I started as a printmaker but now work predominantly in watercolor. I paint life today and enjoy mentoring others. Painting en plein air fills my creative bank. I have won many prizes, exhibited over 35 years and have published ebooks sharing my techniques. Painting enriches my life and builds an awareness of the world around me.

“Life Moment” I enjoy working during my life drawing sessions with spontaneous color splashes that morph into figure studies. These images capture the best of the watercolor medium and the essence of a figure study in a quick 20 minute session.
“Notre Dame” This is my response to the fire earlier this year as I revisited my trip to Paris and the magic of the interior of this cathedral. I loved the mood of the light shining through the stained glass windows on to the sculptured forms. Watercolor is perfect for such subjects.
