Locals call this place Venice of Hongkong. Aptly so, the place depicts a panoramic view in Hongkong Fishing Village called Tai O.”Above the Waves” captured, in essence, the wonderful and colorful reflections of the scene: small houses above the water with hills at the background – vertical fences – and calm greenish water decorated by small craft. This watercolour artwork was a selected entry to IWS Hongkong exhibition titled “Hello Hongkong.” The exhibition was cancelled due to Corona Virus outbreak. I decided to donate this painting to raise funds (to buy masks, food, medicines) for the afflicted site in Wuhan, China. Hoping that the people will stay above this wave until the water is calm again.
Done in an abstractive approach to consolidate and express the image of a country Singapore through colors and shapes. In this painting, the most iconic places and life of the people were expressed visually.
A typical panoramic scene eminent in a Tropical Southeast Asia fishing village, visualized in an impressive way. But feeling and capturing the beauty of morning breeze along the shore. Less detailed and was done in simplified form and limited palette.
