“I’ve enjoyed painting and expressing my creativity since I was very young,” says Valeria Chepilev. “As a high school student, I remember my art teacher telling me that I should pursue art professionally, even though I received a degree in business instead.

“The Yosemite” captures the breathtaking Tunnel View of Yosemite, a scene that left a lasting impression on me. I created this piece after my first visit to the park, inspired by the stunning vista of the valley as we took in the final, unforgettable view on our drive out.

“Years later, I left my home in Canada and relocated to Berlin, Germany. From my very first day in the new city, I began painting in watercolor. Traveling to new European countries and cities has provided a constant stream of inspiration for me. I enjoyed marveling at the Mediterranean cities and watching how the sun hits the centuries-old roofs, creating beautiful shadows on the tiles.

“Canadian Winter” was inspired by one of my winter trips to Vancouver. While the city itself doesn’t often get snow, its surrounding mountains offer breathtaking scenes where you can find yourself immersed in nature’s winter beauty.

“After a whirlwind four years of traveling and exploring new European countries, I relocated to my new home in Santa Barbara, California. Known as the American Riviera thanks to its colonial Spanish architecture, Santa Barbara became my new muse. My latest work focuses on the local architecture, beautiful mountains and beaches, and the best that California has to offer.”

I captured the scene in “A Morning in Paris” during my trip to the city in August. The streets were unusually quiet, as many residents were away on vacation. I enjoyed wandering through the beautiful, half-empty city, savoring the peaceful solitude and encountering the occasional passerby.
