“Although most of my painting time currently takes place inside my studio, I’m painting outdoors more and more,” says Leandro Nunes. “I’m a scholar, an experimenter. I produce a lot and test a lot, so I end up using plein air for both purposes. Arguably, practice is an important activity for any professional. In the case of artists that includes not only the practice of technique and the achievement of the desired look, but also the exercise of the mind. The live scene breaks up our routine; many insights happen as we are in uncontrolled, dynamic, living environments. Creativity is nurtured.”
