Ambassador of the Week: Robin Roberts

Meet Robin Roberts, this week’s top American Watercolor Weekly Ambassador!

“Meandering Through Fall”
This one was done plein air at a working farm near me called Malabar Farm. It is a working farm that is also a state Park. It was left to the state by Louis Bromfield, an author. I’ve done several paintings at this estate.

Painting is my way to be with God and His creation. I want to soak it in, understand it as well as I can, and then capture the special beauty of life as light and shadow splash across the scene. I love being outside and interacting with others and of course, painting, which is why I really enjoy plein air painting. Nature never fails to reward and challenge me as an artist with its constantly changing colors, light, and atmosphere.

I see every painting as a journey of new opportunity and growth.

My wife and I are now empty nesters and grandparents, living in Ashland, Ohio.

“Buckeye Lake Boat Houses”
This painting is done from studies and photos taken at Buckeye Lake in Hebron, Ohio. This is where my dad was raised. He worked in these boat houses as a kid. I’ve heard a few good stories about them. They are gone now as they had to take them out to do shoreline repair in the lake.
