A Celebration of Works on Paper

Founded in 1900 to offset the then common exhibition prejudice against watercolor, the Philadelphia Water Color Society is holding its 119th International Exhibition of Works on Paper through October, 11, 2019, at the Community Arts Center in Wallingford, Pennsylvania. Juried by Joseph Zbukvic (juror of selection) and Liz Haywood-Sullivan (juror of awards), the show includes watercolor, pastel, charcoal, graphite, acrylic, gouache, colored pencil, and hand-pulled prints.

Here are a few of the watercolor paintings that took top prizes.

PWCS Award for Excellence in Works on Paper: “The Yellow Quilt” by Teresa DeSeve
Elizabeth Shober Hooper Memorial Award for Excellence in Presentation & Technique: “Welcome To My World” by Denny Bond
PWCS Founders’ Award: “309 Commercial St Provincetown” by Tim Saternow
Blicks Art Materials Award: “Bliss” by Stacy Lund Levy
